Jo Bithume is a theatre company dedicated to performing in the street, a space of precious freedom to be celebrated and protected. Their philosophy is to give pride of place to the audience in these public spaces, inviting them to participate in an immersive, exotic, theatrical experience packed with accessories, costumes and artists. The company’s ambition is to transform the spaces in which they perform, and the people for whom they perform, making each performance a moment of shared dreams and emotions.
The company is primarily focused on street-based shows, blending elements of theatre, circus, dance and comedy with a dash of commedia dell'arte, clowning, travelling theatre and pantomime.
The company also runs classes in street performance and circus arts, with programmes for everybody from beginners to experts, amateurs to professionals, children and adults alike.
The company creates and curates cultural events, carnivals and festivals, as well as hosting residencies from other street theatre companies.
Company Jo Bithume was put into liquidation in 2014.
