Anomalie
Anatomie Anomalie pulls the audience in with its entrancing succession of movements and images. With the help of multi-faceted choreography, thunderous music and a precise, poised sense of pacing, theatre company Anomalie and Swiss director Martin Zimmermann offer up an entirely new proposition: a circus without a circus.
In this new state of affairs, the circus arts meld seamlessly into dance, theatre and music, all in the name of an intense narrative experience.
The stage design and direction are naturally informed by the virtuosity of the acrobats, with verticality taking pride of place.
Bodies slung across shoulders, volumes shifting and sliding, acrobats launching into space, a strange man talking about suffering…
The diversity of styles which characterises the company’s productions – and particularly this new creation – reflects the open spirit with which they approach their art.
