Welcome to the age of silent cinema: a story without words, a good old melodrama played out to the sound of a stand-up piano. This sepia-tinged tragi-comedy of love and betrayal stars Dr Zingaro and Cornélia, as two Siamese sisters locked in battle with their cantankerous maid. A knockabout comedy with hints of the Addams Family, with affectionate nods to Chaplin, Keaton and Lloyd and references to everything from expressionism and surrealism to the cinema of the 1920s.
