Maren Strack studied Fine Art in Munich, and her career has always blurred the boundaries between different artistic disciplines. She seeks to reconcile sculpture and dance, using her talents as both costume designer and engineer to create wonderfully idiosyncratic décors for her performances.
Developing and refining her distinctly personal style, she is constantly using new materials to lend substance and texture to her creations. She also examines our relationship with imagery, weaving video installations into her performances. Frequently invited to perform and exhibit in contemporary art galleries, she loves to play upon the aesthetic resonances between her own work and the works of other artists on show. Her performances are often provocative and full of surprises, upending convention with a refreshing originality and a certain deadpan insolence.
