Over the years, Compagnie Paul les Oiseaux has risen to national and international fame. In the company’s distinctive artistic universe, fragility trumps force and audacity and elegance are inextricably linked. This unique worldview is encapsulated in the company’s name, a homage to Paolo Uccello, a Renaissance artist later revered by the Cubists and Surrealists. The resolutely poetic visual vocabulary of Paul les Oiseaux draws much of its colour and timbre from other artistic disciplines. Following a period of intense reflection, inspired by past professional experiences and new creative ambitions, Paul les Oiseaux is now a committed exponent of inter-disciplinary collaboration and close relationships with artists from all manner of backgrounds. Paul les Oiseaux runs various workshops and sessions designed to introduce new audiences to contemporary dance and other forms of creativity, maintaining close ties with the company’s native region. The aim of these initiatives is to promote exchanges between the performers and the public, opening up new perspectives on the physical possibilities of dance, its practical manifestations and its personal resonances.
