Cie Tête de Pioche

The audience is ushered into an antechamber, where they come across a collection of quirky sculpture-creations. Then two somewhat mysterious assistants arrive, guiding the spectators into a cabinet of curiosities lined with fifty strange characters made from old farm tools.
Fragments de vie offers a decidedly unique vision of the world, as Christine Saint-André lifts the lid on the astonishing microcosm she has created. Unleashing the poetic potential contained in these old tools, she rediscovers the life and soul of artefacts as abandoned as they are inanimate. With the addition of a simple head, sculpted from white clay, any old axe, hoe or shovel is transformed into a familiar figure: those ageless ladies in flowing black dresses synonymous with the countryside of yesteryear. Little by little, this Lilliputian cabinet of curiosities takes on the air of some lost rustic paradise… A performance-installation composed of multiple interconnected tableaux, connected by the eternal circle of the five essential elements: metal, wood, water, fire and earth.
