A man is confined to a small room, with just a small suitcase for company. And yet, his world is about to be turned upside down. As he gradually adapts to these new circumstances, he begins to explore the possibilities on offer. Emboldened by what he finds, he starts to demonstrate his physical prowess and powers of invention to give voice to his innermost dreams and desires.
German acrobat-dancer Tobias Wegner regularly defies the laws of gravity. Using an ingenious video projection system (his movements are captured on camera and projected onto a big screen, tilted by 90 degrees), he creates the illusion of walking on the walls and floating weightlessly. His character, Leo, draws himself a new world in chalk: a chair, a table, shelves, a goldfish in a bowl and all of the other furniture you’d expect to find in a lounge. He then sets about climbing over these imaginary furnishings, scaling the shelves. All of a sudden, the drawing comes to life: the goldfish bowl starts to move, tipping over to flood the room and force Leo to swim…
Evoking at times the silent movies of Buster Keaton, at others the twinkle-toed magic of Fred Astaire or the poeticism of Philippe Petit, Leo is in a class of its own.
