Romance-S is a duet touched by the grace of love. The couple at its centre gravitate around one another, before coming together to form a single loving body... So just why is Romance-S so moving? Because Laurence Yadi and Nicolas Cantillon have transformed their duet into a pool of sunlight where life is good... Because the evident pleasure they take in their union is contagious. Because every last movement is their own. Like the roots of a plant they stretch out, intertwine, and escape when the embrace becomes too stifling.
The duo of choreographers draw their poses, movements and figures from an idiosyncratic mythology, born of the union of love and dance. Perhaps the most touching thing about these lovers is their modesty: hands searching for each other for a few fleeting moments, soft breath blowing across the deserted stage, cloaking the writhing movements, the austere anthem to a wild parade…
