Shiro Daïmon is widely recognised as one of the foremost Japanese dancers of his generation. His meticulous, comprehensive approach to his art has cemented his reputation as a master dancer, actor and musician. Having studied under some of the great modern masters of Noh (Kanzé Tetsunojô the 8th, a national treasure in Japan) and Kabuki (the Hanayagi School), he has achieved a rare degree of perfection in his handling of female roles, the cornerstone of traditional Japanese theatre.
Reconciling tradition and modernity, East and West, dance, theatre and music, Shiro Daïmon fuses elements of Noh, Kabuki and contemporary dance with original, poetic results.
Shiro Daïmon draws upon the talents of a group of Western musicians who are experts in improvisation: Steve Lacy, Eric Fischer, Bernard Lubat, François Rossé, along with a troupe of Japanese musicians: Yôsuke Yamashita, Masahiko Togashi, Shônosuke Ôkura…
Shiro Daïmon regularly performs in France, across Europe and in Japan.
