Rigal’s creations exist at the crossroads of theatre, circus, music and, of course, dance. As an artist, Pierre Rigal is constantly striving to form new connections between a diverse array of artistic practices. An enduring fascination with the body in movement is the fundamental inspiration for his performances, and the language in which they operate. Dance thus becomes a tool in the service of his thematic explorations, with the “future” (defined in the broadest possible sense) a particular source of inspiration for his oeuvre as a whole.

Pierre Rigal is a former athlete whose career path has been remarkably eclectic. After graduating from the Ecole Supérieure d’Audiovisuel in Toulouse he tried his hand at photography, directing and producing videos, publishing, etc. He discovered contemporary dance somewhat belatedly, became hooked and finally began his true education.
