Accrorap
Setting out in search of his own memories, Kader Attou juggles the thousand and one fragments of life which inspired his youthful imagination. As a boy the choreographer imagined that when his father (a worker at the Renault factory) talked about “doing 8s” on shift work, he was actually spending his working hours drawing an infinite number of figure 8s on the floor.
Immune to nostalgia, Attou and his five dancers look to the past and revisit old memories, however painful they may be, celebrating them as nuggets of lost youth. With spiky energy they retrace the history of working-class France, the backdrop and unspoken energy behind the hip-hop movement to which they belong.
Attou’s urban-inspired dance style becomes light as a feather when it comes to evoking the traces of childhood, all those little words, wounds and hidden memories... Hip-hop collective Accrorap blend acrobatics with street dance in a series of choreographed sketches which pack an emotional and musical punch.
