Cirque Rouages is a collective founded and co-directed by 9 passionate artists, technicians, musicians and set designers, all committed to uniting their skills in the service of a new poetical, musical, physical entity.
The company defines itself by its spirit of collective creativity, combining mechanical set design with circus acrobatics, the physical possibilities of dance and mime, and a shared love of live music.
Born beneath a big top in Bar-le-Duc, Cirque Rouages spent their first five years travelling throughout Lorraine, France and Germany starting in the open air and eventually making their way into theatres.
In 2011, the collective left behind Bar-le-Duc and its Cabarets d’Hiver. After a spell of exile and wandering, Sodade and Zorro first hit the stage in 2015. Warmly received by audiences and professionals alike, these two shows cemented the reputation of Cirque Rouages.
While remaining attached to their native Meuse and their adoptive region of Lorraine, this joyous band now tours the world performing Sodade, Zorro, Om Taf, Ondes and Soon, while constantly working to develop new shows.
