Cie Dernière Minute
A man is trapped in a box, his only company a selection of ghostly dolls which are somehow able to speak. A living space which is restricted in the extreme, leading the protagonist to an absurd, anxiety-ridden impasse…
Press… As in political pressure, psychological pressure, physical pressure… In this solo performance, Pierre Rigal depicts modern man in all his banality, but also his enigmatic complexity. His body seems to be driven by its own internal logic, but also by the constraints of this cramped space, a box which appears to be continuously shrinking. These mechanical machinations mean that he is constantly required to shift position and adapt his movements!.
Pierre Rigal, a former elite sportsman, puts his athletic talents to aesthetic use in this impressive solo show. The video projections are integral elements of the performance, providing an echo or counterpoint to the physical movements and creating an immersive atmosphere. The lights and optical illusions run up against the sheer physicality of the dancer’s body, clashing, sliding, slipping and ultimately disappearing.
