Born in Athens, Yorgos Karamalegos studied theatre at Nellie Karra's theatre school. He began his career as a film and television actor. In 2001, he moved to the United Kingdom and founded the Tmesis Theatre company which works in physical theatre.
Since 2011 he has independently directed and created the Physical Lab production laboratory based in London.
