Art Kaïk
Sat at a table, hidden behind her long brown locks, an actress reads a text while a battalion of objects, with help from her hair, embody an array of forms, characters and even body parts.
Inspired by a short story by Waël Ragab, Des vers et des vers is a sort of "endoscopic" journey, starting in a mother’s womb and ending up in front of a father’s grave: an interstitial space between life and the great beyond.
Des vers et des vers is a sweeping examination of the different ways in which the body can be used, or even dehumanised, by the division, celebration and consecration of certain component parts. Using objects to evoke these ideas invites us to shift our perspective, creating a mysterious dialogue between text and imagery which runs through this whole show.
