Homer’s epic tale of adventure, presented by young hearing-impaired actors from the Brno theatre school. Using mime, sign language and the poetic deployment of objects and colours, they tease out the romance in the story of Odysseus and Penelope
Using simple, plastic, symbolic props (a blue sofa serves as a bench, a boat and finally a fortress; a steel ball represents Penelope’s thread etc.) enables the performers to evoke the various settings of the story, while the combination of mime and sign language makes for a moving, universal retelling of this deathless tale of love and adventure.
