W.C. Dames was first performed by four young women in Geneva in 1987. This fêted performance was also the artistic debut of a new theatre company, directed by Anne Bisang.
Those actresses were Caroline Gasser, Sophie Bonhôte, Franziska Kahl and Valérie Poirier. Now, 10 years on, they return with a new version of W.C. Dames, with the finishing touches added during their artistic residency at Mimos.
The title and setting of this piece may seem surprising, but the idea is to present an exclusively female microcosm with all its silences, entrances, exits and unexpected connections. The result is more striking, comical and unsettling than any sociological study.
